NUS vươn tầm quốc tế với chuyên gia AI tham gia hoạch định chiến lược khí hậu toàn cầu

Assistant Professor Gianmarco Mengaldo from the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Design and Engineering at NUS has been appointed to the Joint Advisory Group on Artificial Intelligence (JAG-AI) at the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). This is an acknowledgement of his work and expertise in using AI for weather and climate modelling.

Asst Prof Gianmarco Mengaldo, a leading expert in using AI to predict weather and climate, was invited to be a part of the Joint Advisory Group on Artificial Intelligence (JAG-AI).

WMO is a United Nations (UN) specialised agency that fosters international cooperation on the state of the Earth's atmosphere, weather, climate, and water resources to ensure the safety and welfare of humanity. As WMO recognises AI's potential to manage weather and climate challenges, JAG-AI was formed to provide recommendations for the responsible integration of AI into global meteorological and hydrological systems.

Asst Prof Mengaldo's interdisciplinary research combines mathematical engineering, computational science and AI to develop data-mining and high-fidelity simulation tools for predicting complex systems across fields like engineering, weather and climate, solid earth physics, healthcare, and finance.
