Assistant Professor Tedrick Lew from the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in the College of Design and Engineering at NUS has won the Next ASEAN Innovator Award 2025. This was one of the awards presented at the 7th ASEAN–ROK Excellence in Science, Technology and Innovation Awards.

Endorsed by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the government of the Republic of Korea (ROK), the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and the Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI), the award recognises the outstanding academic achievements of promising, early-career scientists and engineers from ASEAN countries, and encourages them to continue contributing in the area of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Asst Prof Lew was lauded for developing tiny plant sensors and nanoparticle delivery systems that monitor plant health and boost climate resilience. As an NUS Presidential Young Professor, he leads multidisciplinary research across nanotechnology, plant biology, chemistry, and engineering to advance the understanding of plant physiology and revolutionise agriculture.
