Professor Rajasekhar Balasubramanian and Assistant Professor He Xiaogang from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering under the College of Design and Engineering at NUS, have earned recognition in the American Geophysical Union (AGU) 2025 Honours Programme for their distinguished achievements.

AGU honours individuals and teams for their outstanding contributions to research, education, science communication and outreach. These recipients have transformed our understanding of the world, improved daily lives and communities, and helped drive solutions towards a more sustainable future.
Prof Balasubramanian has been elected a Fellow of AGU, one of the Union’s most prestigious honours, in recognition of his distinguished and sustained contributions to the field of air quality.
The Fellows programme recognises individuals who have demonstrated scientific excellence in the Earth and space sciences through notable achievements in research, such as making a breakthrough or discovery, driving innovation in their field, or achieving sustained scientific impact.
