Commemorating its 120th anniversary this year, NUS celebrates not only a legacy of academic excellence but also its ongoing commitment to making a meaningful impact on society.

NUS has retained its position as eighth in the world and first in Asia, according to results of the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings (WUR) 2026.

In the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings (WUR) 2026 released on 19 June 2025, NUS clinched 8th position worldwide and retained its spot as the top university in Asia. This continued recognition reaffirms the University’s standing as a leading institution in education, research and innovation, both in the region and in the world.

The annual comparative rankings assessed 8,467 institutions across 106 locations, including four universities from Singapore. NUS remains among the top 0.5 per cent of universities globally and is once again the only Asian university placed in the Top 10.

Attributing this incredible feat to the unwavering commitment to excellence by its talented students, faculty, staff and alumni, NUS President Professor Tan Eng Chye said, “We are particularly heartened to be ranked amongst the best in Asia for academic reputation, and to have made notable advances in employer reputation and international research partnerships. This builds on the momentum of our efforts where the improvements signal growing confidence in our graduates, as well as the expanding impact of our research network around the world.”

A regional and global leader in education

Leading the charge across eight key indicators in the latest QS WUR ranking, NUS cemented its status as a driving force in education in Singapore and beyond.

In Asia, NUS ranks second best in Employment Outcome, and is among the top three for Academic Reputation and Sustainability. On a global scale, the University outperformed the international average across all indicators, with notable improvements in five categories, from Academic Reputation to Employer Reputation and International Research Network.
